Prof Willie Stewart

Biography

Prof Stewart is Consultant Neuropathologist at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow and Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. For over 20 years Prof Stewart has worked to ensure that brain tumour patients in the West of Scotland and further afield have access to the most up to date diagnostic testing to direct optimal management. Reflecting this, he was instrumental in establishing the UK external quality assurance scheme for molecular diagnostics in neuro-oncology, a first of its kind. More recently, working with colleagues in the West of Scotland Genetics Service, Prof Stewart has guided introduction of routine tumour methylation profiling, which is now available to all Scottish Brain tumour patients.
