Stefan Symeonides is Professor of Experimental Cancer Medicine and a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Institute of Genetics and Cancer (University of Edinburgh) and the linked Edinburgh Cancer Centre (NHS Lothian) and CRUK Scotland Centre (Universities of Glasgow & Edinburgh); he also has a Senior Medical Advisor at Cancer Research UK’s Centre for Drug Development (London), is on the Board of Directors of the Cancer Drug Development Forum (Belgium), and has Scientific Advisory Board roles with a number of Oncology companies and biotechs. After clinical training in the UK (Cambridge, Edinburgh), Australia (Melbourne) & New Zealand (Christchurch), and research in academia, clinic & industry, he now leads the Edinburgh Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, where he provides the link between Edinburgh’s laboratory discoveries and their clinical development. In the clinic, he leads the Edinburgh Phase I Cancer Trials Unit and recently stepped down from a specialty interest in renal cancer.
