Lisa is joining us from Largs on the west coast where she is lucky to live 5 mins from the beach!
Lisa has heard the words ‘Sorry but it is cancer’ twice in her life. First time back in 2005 and the second time in 2020. Which was a complete shock after living cancer free for 15 years!
Treatment second time was gruelling and certainly a roller coaster ride – chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and then a Total Pelvic Exenteration in November 2022. The side effects of the treatment are horrific and ongoing however she is still here, very much trying to live life and get on with things as much as possible.
Life is very different for Lisa and her family now; she has had to find new ways to cope and adapt to her new life – trying to live simply and enjoy her family. She lives with her husband, Dave and their son, no longer fit for her past teaching role she sees being involved in CRUKs patient involvement opportunities as being part of something that strives to make living with cancer easier for people, to ensure that the time that families have together is happy and as much as possible, positive.
